Honey Queen Committee Chair Report, September/October 2008
Dear Texas Beekeepers,
Start packing for the TBA Convention at the Southfork Hotel in Plano on November 6, 7 and 8! Or at least start making your list of items to bring!
For example:
- Auction items
- Honey, photos and gift basket for judging
- Camera to take photos of the Honey Queens
- Business cards to share with other beekeepers
- Checkbook to make donations and purchases
Send in your registration to our TBA Treasurer, Jimmie Oakley.
You’ll get to meet the Honey Queens on Thursday evening and have an opportunity to taste their honey food items in addition to other provided light foods. Don’t forget to sign up for the Queens’ Luncheon on Friday! And of course, come to the highlight of the three–day event—the Saturday night Awards Banquet, Honey Queen Coronation and Queen’s Auction! Past Texas Honey Queens and past Honey Queen Chairpersons will be recognized. Remind those who you know to join us!
Encourage a beekeeping friend to attend the Convention who has not previously come.
Volunteer to work at one of the educational stations at Kids Learning About Bees on Thursday, November 6, 10 am till 3 pm at the Convention. The visiting children will be in awe of all you know about honey bees. The Honey Queens will be escorting the children through a series of tables. Contact me below for more information! See page 17 in this TBA Journal to find out all about Kids Learning About Bees. Rachael Seida has been very busy as American Honey Queen this calendar year!
Rachael will be so pleased to visit with you at the Convention, as all of you Texas Beekeepers are the folks who have been supportive of Rachael since her early years of keeping bees and first reigning as Texas Honey Queen in November 2006.
I’ll see you at the Convention in Plano in November! Do call me or email me and let me know if you can help with Kids Learning About Bees on the Thursday of the Convention.
Thank you, dear Texas Beekeepers for your loving continuous support and friendship!
You may contact me below at any time for All Things Queenly!
