2013 Honey Queen - Shelby Kilpatrick

Shelby Kilpatrick is the daughter of Scott and Susan Kilpatrick. She is a senior in high school and is home educated along with her two younger sisters. She began beekeeping in 2007 when she receiveda Youth Beekeeping Scholarship from the Collin County Hobby Beekeepers Association. Since then, beekeeping has become a family project. In addition to beekeeping, Shelby is an active Denton County 4-H member participating in project areas such as entomology, wildlife habitat evaluation, horticulture, citizenship, leadership and community service. Her leadership responsibilities this year include servingas a third-year member of the Texas 4-H Technology Team. Shelby is also a certified Denton County Master Gardener and an Elm Fork Chapter Master Naturalist Intern. At home she enjoys reading, cooking, beekeeping, working on 4-H projects and spending time with her family. Shelby plans to start college in the fall at Texas A&M University in College Station and pursue a degree in entomology..

 

As an official spokesperson for the Texas Beekeepers Association, Caroline promotes all aspects of the Beekeeping Industry. She is available for interviews, personal appearances, and is prepared to give presentations to appropriate groups.
